Vibso Siren is an alarm siren that increases the audibility in places usually difficult to alarm, and is audible for hearing-impaired persons without having a harmful sound level. The problem with hearing-impaired people’s inability to perceive ordinary alarm sirens has been known for a long time. But this is also a problem for everybody working in noisy or soundproof environments. Vibso Siren: A new alarm tone! The alarm siren Vibso has a unique tone based on a low-frequent tone with hard sound waves, square-shaped waves and serrated waves. It also includes a special mix of low- frequent tones, 100, 200, 300 and 500 Hz. The tone has the ability to penetrate without the necessity of a high decibel level. Vibso Special Siren has a tone with a different carrying capacity than ordinary sirens. The unique tone of the special siren does not follow the normal sound curve. Instead it forms a sound wave that enables the tone to propagate, and not diminish in the same extent as tones based on the normal sinus wave. Vibso has an alarm signal adjusted not to inflict momentary hearing injury while alarming. An alarm signal with a high dB can cause e.g. tinnitus if you, like rescue personnel, are exposed to it for some time during an evacuation. Hearing impaired Approximately 13% of the Swedish population has hearing injuries which prevents them from hearing the alarm sirens of today. Out of these are 554 000 people of working age. Hearing impairment cannot only be considered a problem for the elderly, but is really also a problem for these people of working age. Statistics does also show that hearing impairment is a growing problem which affects more and more people each day. Vibso Siren is estimated to be well audible for people with a hearing-impairment of at least 50dB at 500 Hz, according to Professor Stig Arlinger, University of Linköping. In evacuation tests, among others at Wrangelska Palatset in Stockholm, was the tone audible for people of hearing-impairment up to 85 dB. Noisy Environments Vibso is a complement for people of normal hearing because the tone has the ability to penetrate walls and not diminish within a limited area, i.e. a room. This means that the tone can reach every area of a building; witch in turn increases the public safety. Vibso Siren has the ability to penetrate noisy environments, like workshops and other industrial environments, and creates a sound filter for noise and other disturbing sounds. The sound of common sirens decreases when there is an obstacle in the way of the sound. This alarm tone propagates in walls and other objects which amplifies the tone and makes vibrations in surrounding objects. Vibso Siren does also have the ability to penetrate different hearing-protectors that are used in noisy environments. Soundproof Environments Even in soundproof environments is Vibso Special Siren functional. Because of the tone’s ability to not diminish in the same extent as ordinary alarm tones, it is well suited for soundproof hotel rooms, larger archives, etc. |
